This essential training will equip participants with professional-level skills in academic citation and reference management using Mendeley Reference Manager, a sophisticated digital tool that has become indispensable in contemporary academic research and scholarly writing.

The training program will cover the complete spectrum of Mendeley functionality, beginning with account setup and interface navigation, progressing through building comprehensive reference libraries by importing citations from major academic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and JSTOR, and advancing to sophisticated citation generation including both narrative and parenthetical citation formats across various academic styles including APA, MLA, Chicago, and Harvard formats. Participants will master the Mendeley Cite plugin for Microsoft Word, learning to seamlessly insert narrative citations that integrate author names into sentence flow as well as parenthetical citations for supporting evidence, while also generating comprehensive reference lists that automatically format according to selected academic standards. The session will cover advanced organizational strategies using folders and tags, explore collaborative features for research team projects, and develop proficiency in PDF annotation and note-taking capabilities. The training will also address best practices for managing extensive reference collections, troubleshooting common citation issues, and integrating Mendeley with other research tools to create streamlined academic writing workflows.
