Workshop: Getting Ready to Write Your Thesis
AOSARS will host a practical workshop on Thursday, 24th April, 2025, designed to equip graduate students with essential skills for thesis preparation. This session will focus on mastering Mendeley Desktop as a reference management tool, with particular emphasis on establishing an organized references document, effectively identifying and removing duplicate entries, and implementing the powerful Sieve and Write methodology. Participants will learn how to systematically filter their research materials through progressive “sieves” of relevance, quality, and significance, transforming scattered literature into a coherent framework for thesis writing. The workshop will demonstrate practical techniques for converting filtered literature into structured notes that form the foundation of well-organized thesis chapters. By combining efficient reference management with strategic writing approaches, attendees will develop a sustainable workflow that simplifies the often overwhelming thesis writing process. The session offers hands-on practice with individualized guidance, ensuring participants leave with immediately applicable skills for their academic projects.
