One-to-One AI Skill Sets Coaching forAfrican Lecturers

The AI assistant can lift a lecturer's teaching, marking and research, or it can breach your institution's AI-use policy, mark students on a machine's judgement, produce citations that fail peer review, and leave lectures and feedback that read as machine-made rather than your own work. In each three-hour session your coach watches how you direct the assistant on your own teaching materials, assessments, marking and research, corrects your method live, and closes with a check against your institution's AI-use policy. You drive the assistant, verify every output, and stay the author throughout.

One coach, hands-on · Live one-to-one AI sessions, three hours each · Built for African lecturers

Why coaching works

Why coaching works, where a prompt guide does not.

A skill is acquired by doing it under guidance, not by reading a prompt list. You can memorise clever prompts and still mis-pitch a lecture, trust a citation the assistant invented, mark unfairly, or hand back feedback that reads as machine-made. Coaching is where the method becomes yours: you direct the assistant on your own teaching materials, assessments, marking and research, your coach corrects your method in the moment, and each session adds another governed technique your teaching depends on, from briefing and preparing materials to assessment design, fair marking, verification, ethics and disclosure. Open any pillar below to see how it moves your work.

You do it, you do not just watch

Every module follows the same learning loop. The coach demonstrates the technique, you direct the AI yourself on your own material, and your method is corrected and checked until it is sound. You never simply copy a prompt alone and hope it holds.

Why this matters: A tool you do not drive is a tool you do not own. Practising the skill yourself is what makes it yours.

What this means for you
  • The coach demonstrates, then you practise the same technique yourself
  • You drive the AI; the coach guides your method
  • You are corrected as you go, until the technique is automatic
  • Hands-on practice, not a passive lecture
  • The skill becomes yours, not the coach's

Across the coaching: this doing-it-yourself loop runs through all eight modules, from AI foundations to a complete governed AI workflow.

One coach, every session

You work with one coach who stays with you for the whole engagement. They come to know your teaching, your field and your habits, so the guidance is specific to you rather than generic advice repeated to a room.

Why this matters: Continuity compounds. A coach who already knows your work can go straight to what matters, session after session.

What this means for you
  • The same coach for the whole package
  • Three-hour live sessions, one-to-one and hands-on
  • Guidance tuned to your work, not a generic prompt list
  • A coach who fills the gap in a busy teaching term
  • Momentum built and held across the sessions

Note: your coach never replaces or overrules your institution's policies. They work alongside your teaching and research, so the outputs you take back are already sharper.

See the ten modules

Practice on your own research

You direct the AI on the work that matters, your own course notes, marking batch or paper, or on practice material if you are equipping ahead. The prompt you refine, the source you extract, the analysis you plan and the paragraph you revise are all on your real work.

Why this matters: Method applied to your own file turns into real progress the same session, not abstract prompts you still have to transfer.

What this means for you
  • You work on your own teaching, marking and research, not toy prompts
  • Every session moves your actual work forward
  • Techniques land in the context where you will use them
  • Practice material is available if you are equipping ahead
  • Small, achievable progress on the document that counts

The bright line: you drive the AI throughout. The coach guides and corrects your method, but never has the AI do your work for you.

See the ten modules

Correction in the moment

Because the coach watches you direct the AI live, you are corrected the instant your method slips, not weeks later. A prompt that invites fabrication, a citation the AI invented, a draft that reads as machine-made, all caught while you are still in the work.

Why this matters: Correction in the moment is the fastest way to build a skill. You do not carry the mistake into the next module or marking batch.

What this means for you
  • Close feedback, so the coach sees exactly how you prompt
  • Mistakes caught and fixed as they happen
  • Feedback on your own file, not on a generic example
  • Time spent on method, not on generic prompt tips
  • A written summary of the fixes within five working days

How it lands: you leave each session with three concrete things to practise, so the correction turns straight into your next stretch of research.

A rhythm that fits a real life

Most lecturers are doing this around teaching, marking and family. The coaching is built for exactly that: focused three-hour sessions you schedule flexibly, with the hands-on work done live and a clear method to practise between them.

Why this matters: A few focused sessions become a method you own, because the rhythm respects the little time a teaching, marking and researching lecturer can spare.

What this means for you
  • You practise the method in your own protected blocks
  • Three-hour sessions, scheduled when they suit you
  • You bring your own teaching, marking or research task to each session
  • Book, reschedule and cancel your sessions yourself
  • Momentum that fits around teaching, marking and family

Your session, mapped: the switcher further down the page walks through the cycle, from your prep to the compliance check.

Skills you keep for good

The governed AI method you build in coaching does not expire when this module is delivered. Built once, it carries you through the terms that follow, and through the papers, reviews and course materials that come after.

Why this matters: You are not renting help for one deadline. You are building a craft that serves every piece of research you ever produce.

What this means for you
  • Prompting, sourcing and verification skills that stay with you
  • Fluency directing the AI assistant for good
  • Craft that carries into teaching, marking and future papers
  • A governed, disclosed method you can explain to any panel or peer reviewer
  • Independence you keep long after the coaching ends

A skill you own, not a service you rent.

Coaching builds the governed AI method into you, so you can drive the AI yourself, on this research and every project after it. You verify and own every output, and the method stays with you for good.

What we coach, module by module

Ten coaching modules, each a governed use of the AI assistant on your teaching, marking and research.

Every module follows the same loop: the coach shows the technique, you direct the assistant on your own work, and your method is corrected until it is sound and disclosable. Together they carry you from AI foundations to a complete set of governed AI workflows you can explain and defend. The path below moves on its own from 01 to 10; hover the card or use the pause button to take your time, or select any step to jump.

Your journey, 01 to 10

Your week, with a coach in it

How a few live sessions become a method you own.

Most lecturers juggle teaching, marking and research with family, so the coaching is built in focused three-hour sessions rather than a long course. The hands-on work happens in the session, where you direct the AI on your own material while the coach corrects your method, and between sessions you practise it yourself. Here is what a session cycle looks like.

    Before

Bring your own teaching, marking or research task to the session

Before your session you choose the real work you want to drive AI on: a course module to build, a batch of scripts to mark, a paper to draft, or teaching materials to prepare, all in your own voice.

You also bring your institution's AI-use policy where you have one; if you do not, AOSARS supplies its default academic-integrity protocol for AI use. Nothing is required beforehand but your own task.

    • Your own workBring a real research task, not a toy prompt.
    • Your rules to handYour institution's AI-use policy, or ours by default.
    Session start

Set the task and the rules together

The session opens by framing the task: what you are asking the AI to accelerate, what stays yours to decide, and where the integrity line falls for this piece of work.

Your coach sets the governance up front, so every prompt that follows is disclosable and every output is one you can stand behind.

    • Task framedWhat the AI accelerates, and what stays yours.
    • Line drawnThe integrity line set before the first prompt.
    Session core

Direct the AI on your own work

This is the heart of the session. You drive the AI on your real task while the coach watches your method: how you prompt, how you feed in sources, how you push back on a weak or invented answer.

The coach corrects the method in the moment, so a prompt that invites fabrication or a citation the AI made up is caught while you are still in the work, never after.

    • You driveYour hands on the AI, the coach on your method.
    • Corrected liveA weak or invented answer caught on the spot.
    Session close

Check your work against your AI-use policy

Every session closes the same way: a check of what you produced against your institution's AI-use policy, so each AI-assisted step is disclosed, defensible and yours to explain.

You leave knowing exactly which steps used AI, how, and how you would account for each one to your head of department, an examiner board or a peer reviewer.

    • Compliance checkedEvery session ends against your own policy.
    • Disclosable stepsEach AI-assisted step you can explain and defend.
    Between

    Practise the method yourself

Between sessions you run the same governed method on more of your own work: extract the next set of sources, plan the next analysis, revise the next section, keeping the AI as the instrument and yourself as the author.

You leave each session with three concrete things to practise, so the method sets into habit before you meet again.

    • You drive, coach guidesThe method run on your own work.
    • Three next stepsEvery session ends with clear practice.
    After

A written summary of your method

Within five working days of your session, a written summary of your method and the corrections follows, so nothing from the session is lost and you can act on it in your own time.

That summary, plus your three practice tasks, is what turns a few sessions into a governed AI method you own, and it holds across every piece of research that follows.

    • Within five working daysThe fixes in writing, yours to keep.
    • A method, keptYours to reuse across every project.

Plays through on its own. Hover to pause, or click any day to jump.

A view of one session cycle. The hands-on work happens in the live session, and every session closes with a check against your institution's AI-use policy.

    Inside the coaching

What a session actually looks like.

Every session runs the same way, so you always know what to expect and how to prepare.

    What you gain

What you will be able to do, once the coaching has done its work.

Coaching builds the governed AI method into you, not into a saved chat. These are the skills you walk away able to use yourself, on your teaching, marking and research and every task after, and to explain to any head of department, panel or peer reviewer.

    01

Drive the AI assistant as a governed instrument

Understand what the AI assistant can and cannot do for teaching, marking and research, prompt it precisely, and keep it the instrument while you stay the author of every output.

    02

Accelerate your sourcing, reading and analysis

Use AI to find, extract and summarise literature faster, and to plan and interpret your SPSS analysis, then verify everything it returns so your papers and course notes are quicker to build and still trustworthy.

    03

Write with AI support, in your own voice

Use AI to structure and pressure-test your teaching materials and papers, then revise them in your own voice, so the writing is stronger and never a machine-paraphrased substitute.

    04

Verify every output and protect your integrity

Catch invented citations, check DOIs and claims, and close every step against your institution's AI-use policy, so a misuse flag or an integrity query stops being a threat.

    05

Own a governed AI workflow, for good

Assemble a disclosed, defensible AI method across your whole workload that you can explain to any head of department, panel or peer reviewer, and keep it for every module, marking batch and paper after this one.

    What scholars say

From the lecturers now using AI well.

I was using AI to speed up my marking in a way I could not have explained to my department. In two sessions my coach showed me how to prompt it properly, check what it gave back, and disclose every step honestly. I drive it now, and I own the feedback.
    Lecturer, Public Health
    East Africa · Coaching
I was terrified of breaching our AI-use policy while building new course modules. We went through the policy together and built a method around it, and now I can account for every AI-assisted step. That fear is gone.
    Lecturer, Education
    West Africa · Coaching
AI kept inventing citations that fell apart the moment a peer reviewer checked them. My coach taught me to verify DOIs and claims, and suddenly the AI was speeding me up, not setting traps.
    Senior Lecturer, Economics
    North Africa · Coaching
I used AI to help plan my analysis and structure a paper, but in my own voice. My coach kept it as a tool I direct, so the scholarship stays mine, and the work goes far faster.

    Coaching packages

One coaching programme. Three ways to take it.

All three are built on the same one-to-one, hands-on AI coaching, taught live on your own work. They differ in how many of the ten skill modules the coaching covers. The first trains the foundational core, modules 01 to 04, from understanding the assistant to designing assessments. The second adds modules 05 to 07 and six months of e-learning access to everything covered, so you can replay each technique in your own time. The third covers the complete set, modules 01 to 10, with six months of e-learning access to all ten. In every tier you do the work and own every output, and your coach coaches the skill. You pay to enrol, then schedule your sessions. Most lecturers choose the middle option.

Is this coaching, or a prompt guide? +

It is one-to-one coaching, not a prompt guide or a video course. In each three-hour session a coach watches how you direct the AI assistant on your own teaching, marking or research and corrects your method in the moment, which a static guide cannot do. You drive the AI throughout; the coach builds the governed method with you, and the skill stays yours.

Which AI tools will I learn to use? +

You learn to drive the AI assistant as an accelerator, used alongside the tools you already work in: Word for drafting and tracked-changes feedback, PowerPoint for lecture materials, Excel for rubrics and question banks, a reference manager for citation-checked outputs, and a similarity or AI-detection checker for integrity review. Everything runs on your own laptop or desktop, and you drive all of it yourself.

Will the coach use AI to mark, draft or produce my modules and papers for me? +

No, and that is the bright line. The coach never has the AI mark your students' work, draft your course modules or write your papers, and never does it for you either. You direct the AI, you verify it, and you own every output. The coaching builds your method; it never produces the work you put your name to.

I am worried about breaching my institution's AI-use policy. Does this help? +

That worry is exactly what this coaching removes. You build a disclosed, governed method, and every session closes with a check against your institution's AI-use policy, so each AI-assisted step is one you can explain and defend. You bring your policy if you have one; if not, we supply a default academic-integrity protocol for AI use.

Do I need my own course, marking batch or paper to start? +

No. You are welcome to bring your own course outline, a marking batch, a working paper or a module in progress, but nobody is required to. AOSARS supplies practice material and its default integrity protocol for anyone who prefers to start there. The method you build is the same either way.

How many sessions do I get, and how long are they? +

Each session is three hours, one-to-one and live. The Foundations tier is two sessions, six hours in all; the Practitioner and Pro tiers are three sessions, nine hours in all. Sessions are scheduled flexibly around your teaching and family. There is no e-learning component; the value is the live, corrected practice, and a written summary of your method follows within five working days of each session.

Will this replace my institution's own training? +

No. This coaching sits alongside whatever training and duties your institution provides, and never overrules its policies. Most African lecturers carry heavy teaching, marking and administrative loads, which leaves little time to build a safe AI method from scratch. Coaching fills that gap, so the AI-assisted work you take into a lecture, a marking report or a paper is already disclosed, verified and defensible.

How do I pay, and can I use mobile money? +

You enrol through secure checkout and pay in your local currency, by card, bank transfer or mobile money where it is supported. Payment confirms your place, and we then email you instructions for scheduling your sessions. If you are unsure which tier fits before you pay, email info@aosars.com or use the no-commitment options above.
