[tutor_dashboard_password_reset]Your doctorate proved you can run a supervised project. It did not teach you to position a scholarly identity, turn a thesis into published papers, teach, supervise, win funding or package yourself for the job market. That missing middle between doctoral training and being an independent academic is where careers stall. Each week your coach removes one of those drags with you, built on your own thesis, CV and proposals, and you author and own every piece of it.
One coach, hands-on · One live session a week, up to an hour · Built for African graduates entering academia
A scholarly position, a published paper, a designed module, a funded grant: these are built by doing them under guidance, not by reading about them, and the doctorate teaches none of them. Coaching is where the capability becomes yours. You build each one on your own thesis, CV or proposal, your coach explains the choices and corrects the drafts in the moment, and each session removes another drag on your move from doctorate to independent academic, from positioning your scholarly identity to packaging yourself for the market. Open any pillar below to see how it moves your transition.
Every module follows the same learning loop. The coach demonstrates the technique, you build the artefact yourself on your own portfolio, and you are corrected and checked until it is sound. You never simply watch a video alone and hope it sticks.
Why this matters: An artefact you do not build yourself is one you cannot defend in an interview. Doing the work yourself is what makes the portfolio, and the credit, honestly yours.
Across the coaching: this doing-it-yourself loop runs through all twelve modules, from building your scholarly identity to stepping into academia interview-ready.
See the nine modulesYou work with one coach who stays with you for the whole engagement. They come to know your research, your field and your ambitions, so the guidance is specific to you rather than generic advice repeated to a room.
Why this matters: Continuity compounds. A coach who already knows your work can go straight to what matters, week after week.
Note: your coach never replaces your mentors or referees. They work alongside them, so the manuscripts, applications and materials you put forward are already sharper.
See the nine modulesYou build every artefact on the work that matters, your own portfolio, or on practice manuscripts and scenarios if you are starting from your thesis alone. The paper you shape, the teaching notes you write, the grant you draft and the profile you set up are all your real work.
Why this matters: Craft applied to your own portfolio turns into a career asset the same week, not abstract knowledge you still have to transfer.
The bright line: you author the work throughout. The coach guides and corrects, but never writes your paper, application or materials for you.
See the nine modulesBecause the coach reviews your actual work, you are corrected the instant a technique slips, not weeks later on a rejected submission. An abstract that undersells, a citation you have not verified, a grant aim that will not land, all fixed while you are still in the work.
Why this matters: Correction in the moment is the fastest way to build a skill. You do not carry the mistake into the next artefact.
How it lands: you leave each session with three concrete things to practise, so the correction turns straight into your next week of work.
See the nine modulesMost graduates are doing this around a job, family or distance. The coaching is built for exactly that. The hands-on building happens in your own working days, and the one hour with your coach is reserved for substantive work on what you already built, never for catching up.
Why this matters: An hour a week becomes a portfolio built, because the rhythm respects the little time a working, parenting or caring graduate can spare.
Your week, mapped: the switcher further down the page walks through each day, from your practice to your sixty-minute hour.
See the nine modulesThe scholarly craft and the portfolio you build in coaching do not expire when you land the first post. Built once, they carry you through your probation years, and through the papers, courses and grants that come after.
Why this matters: You are not renting help for one application. You are building a body of work, and a craft, that serves your whole academic career.

See the nine modulesCoaching builds the scholarly craft and the portfolio into you, so you can do the work yourself, on this transition and every academic post after it. You author and own every output throughout, and the skills stay with you for good.
These nine modules start where the doctorate stops. Each one names a real pain of the missing middle between doctoral training and being an independent academic, and removes it: the coach demonstrates the technique, you build the artefact on your own thesis, CV or proposal, and you are corrected until it is sound. Where a module uses the AI assistant, you drive every prompt, you verify every citation, figure and claim against the primary source before you trust it, and you disclose assistance exactly as the target journal, publisher or institution requires. The AI assistant drafts and sense-checks, it never authors: you remain the author and the accountable party for every word you publish. The path below moves on its own from 01 to 09; hover the card or use the pause button to take your time, or select any module to read it in full.
Your journey, 01 to 9
Most graduates make this move around a job, family or distance, so coaching has to fit a real week. The hands-on building happens in your working days, where you develop the artefact on your own portfolio. The hour with your coach is reserved for substantive work on what you already built, never for catching up. Here is what each day looks like.
The first two days are spent doing the thing you and your coach worked through in the session: revise the manuscript section you drafted together, refine the teaching notes, tighten the grant aim, or set up your scholar profile the way you agreed.
This is the smallest, most achievable kind of progress: applying a technique you have just been shown, on the portfolio that matters. Most graduates find these the most productive days of the week.
Now the harder building. You push the craft into new territory: a full manuscript section, a course outline, a grant narrative, using the method you are learning, on your own portfolio or a practice scenario.
This is where the transition feels lonely; you sit with the page until words arrive. Even imperfect drafts are better than none, and your coach will sharpen what you wrote.
You send your coach what you built this week: the manuscript section you drafted, the teaching notes you wrote, the grant aim you shaped, the profile you set up.
You add two or three specific questions, the places the technique did not click. Sending it by Day 5 gives your coach two full working days to review your practice before you meet, and that is what makes the session substantive.
Behind the scenes, your coach goes through what you practised: noting where the technique slipped, which step to demonstrate again, and the hands-on work to do with you tomorrow, the section to rebuild, the citations to verify, the aim to sharpen.
You are not idle on Day 6. You are reading, practising or resting. But the substantive coaching work for the week is already under way on what you practised.
You arrive with your practice already reviewed, so the hour is substantive from the first minute. You work the technique together: revise the manuscript, verify the citations, structure the teaching notes, sharpen the grant aim, while the coach guides and you author.
You leave with three concrete things to practise for the coming week, so the momentum carries straight into your next writing days.
Within five working days of your session, a written summary of the fixes follows, so nothing from the hour is lost and you can act on it in your own time.
That summary, plus your three practice tasks, is what turns one live hour into a full week of forward motion, and it repeats, week after week, until the portfolio is built.
Plays through on its own. Hover to pause, or click any day to jump.
A view of one coaching week. The building happens in your working days, and your live hour is reserved for substantive, hands-on work.
Every session runs the same way, so you always know what to expect and how to prepare.
Coaching builds the scholarly craft and the portfolio your academic career depends on, into you. These are the assets and skills you walk away owning, on this transition and every step after it.
Work from a properly configured workstation, and use deep-research-and-AI tools to move fast through a literature while verifying every citation and disclosing AI use exactly as policy requires.
Register an ORCID, set up a Google Scholar profile, and write an academic bio and positioning statement, so a hiring panel can find, verify and take your work seriously.
Turn your thesis into a publishable manuscript, target and steer it through peer review, and develop a book or course-module proposal, so your portfolio carries real published and proposed work.
Develop a teaching philosophy, course outline, notes and decks of your own, and write a complete grant application, narrative and budget, so you arrive able to teach and to bring funding in.
Assemble an academic CV, cover letter and dossier that get you shortlisted, rehearse the interview and job talk to readiness, and keep every skill for the whole career that follows.
I finished my PhD with a thesis and nothing else to show for it. My coach helped me pull a real paper out of it, choose the right journal, and answer the reviewers myself. I had my first publication before the cycle ended, and I did the writing.
I had never built a single teaching document. We worked through a teaching philosophy, a course outline and a job-talk deck on my own material, and for the first time I could actually show a panel how I would teach. It changed how the interviews went.
I thought grant writing was for established professors. My coach took me through finding a call, framing the aims and building the budget, and I submitted a real application I wrote myself. Having it on my record made me a different candidate.
I was invisible online, no profile, no presence. We set up my ORCID and Google Scholar and got me using AI research tools properly, with every citation checked. Now people can find my work and see what I actually do, and I stayed on the right side of the integrity line throughout.
All three are the same one-to-one, hands-on coaching, sequenced from positioning your scholarly identity to packaging yourself for the academic job market. They differ in how many modules the coaching covers: the foundational core, modules 01 to 04; the core plus teaching and supervision, modules 01 to 06, with six months of e-learning access to them; or the complete nine-module set, 01 to 09, with six months of e-learning access to every module. Higher tiers cover more modules. Most graduates choose the middle option.
Four live one-to-one sessions across the modules that turn a finished thesis into an owned, publishable position: strategic positioning of your scholarly identity, building a research model you own, systematic aggregation of your thesis into one narrative, and drafting the publications already sitting in it towards submission. Your coach explains the choices and corrects the drafts in the moment. You author every artefact and own every output. Taking a paper through submission and peer review itself is coached in our journal publication products.
Live one-to-one coaching across all nine modules: positioning your identity, building a research model you own, aggregating your body of work, extracting your publications, designing a teaching module, preparing to supervise with a supervision-readiness portfolio, presenting at conferences and online, pursuing small grants, and packaging yourself for the academic job market. Your coach guides each choice and corrects each draft as you write it. You author and own every piece of the portfolio you build.
Everything in the Full Transition package, plus a named escalation Package 2 does not include: a mock panel and job-talk rehearsal built around your own live application campaign for a named advertised post. Your coach plays the appointing panel, questions your job talk and pressure-tests your application pack, and you rehearse, revise and own every answer and slide. Includes six months of e-learning access to all nine modules so you can revisit each one at your own pace.

We answer every enquiry personally, usually within a day, before you commit to anything.
It is One-to-One coaching, the flagship tier above our standalone lines. Each week a dedicated coach demonstrates the techniques and guides you hands-on while you build the artefacts yourself. That is different from our self-paced courses, which teach the craft as modules you study alone. Coaching is the higher-touch, higher-value option for building a coordinated portfolio one-to-one; if you need only one of the outcomes, a standalone product may suit you better.
Yes. Nobody needs to arrive with publications, a CV or target institutions in mind. If you have a completed thesis, existing drafts or journals in mind, you are welcome to bring them into the build, but if you do not, AOSARS supplies practice manuscripts, teaching topics and grant scenarios so we build the portfolio from wherever you are starting. All you need is a laptop, a stable connection, a working email and a weekly commitment.
No, and that is the bright line the coach never crosses. Your coach explains the choices, corrects your drafts and steers the decisions, but you author every artefact and take sole authorial and ethical accountability for it. This is coached capability-building. You do the work and own it; we never write it for you. That is exactly what keeps the portfolio, and your standing, honestly yours.
AI is taught as a bounded, live-coached module, used only as a directed, disclosed research aid, never as an uncredited co-author. You direct every search and draft, verify every citation and claim against the primary source, and disclose AI use exactly as the target journal, publisher or institution requires. You build practical, disciplined fluency while staying firmly inside the academic-integrity bright line.
Yes, because the cycle is sequenced for exactly that. Nine process modules run over the core cycle, each building one real part of the portfolio: a scholarly identity, a manuscript, teaching materials, a grant application and more. You start from wherever you are, and the coach guides you through step by step while you build and own each piece. Higher tiers add coaching on more modules and six months of e-learning access, so you can keep building between and after sessions.
You build through the week, send your work and two or three specific questions by Day 5, and meet your coach for one live hour at the weekend to work the techniques together. Because your coach has reviewed your work beforehand, the hour is substantive from the first minute. You leave with three things to build next, and a written summary of the fixes follows within five working days.
All three are the same one-to-one coaching. The first tier covers the foundational core, modules 01 to 04, from positioning your scholarly identity to extracting your first publications. The mid tier adds live coaching on modules 05 and 06, teaching and supervision, and six months of e-learning access to modules 01 to 06. The top tier covers the complete nine-module set, 01 to 09, and adds six months of e-learning access to every module, carrying you through to the academic job market. Higher tiers cover more modules, and you author and own every output at every tier.
